Who is MelSoulTree???
MelSoulTree (Mel-Soul-Tree) is a SENSATIONAL SOUL...SINGER and PERFORMER signed to the international Soul Quest Recording label. She engages audiences around the world with her STRONG stage presence, AMAZING voice and INCREDIBLE vocal range. MelSoulTree is an INTERNATIONAL vocalist who has established musical ties in 45 States, 12 countries and on 4 continents. She is currently promoting her Sophmore CD "Sacred Soul" which is a Soul-Stirring Gospel CD that covers traditional, contemporary and innovative styles of Gospel music. "Sacred Soul" is sure to have something for every listener!
WHY THE NAME MELSOULTREE?
"I chose the name MelSoulTree because EVERYTHING I sing comes from deep down in my SOUL! My voice and range extend like a deeply rooted tree. My voice (like a tree) bares the fruits of my gifts and talents for the entire world to enjoy. I love to sing! I spread love through my gift of song. Therefore, I am MelSoulTree which means Melissa ROOTED in SOUL!"
DO YOU PERFORM LIVE?
Yes. Singing is my life, livelihood and lifestyle. I live to perform for an audience! I am blessed as a soloist and I also enjoy singing with other performers as well. Because of my DIVERSE musical background, I sing SOUL MUSIC with a twist of R&B, Hip Hop, Gospel and Jazz music styles. I am CLEAR that singing is my God given gift. Music for me is the GREAT EQUALIZER...it transcends racial, social, economic and language barriers. EVERYONE speaks the same language when it comes to Music. Every time I have the opportunity to perform on a stage, I realize how BLESSED I am to do so. I am so GRATEFUL to sing for a living!
WHAT IS MELSOULTREE'S PERFORMANCE HISTORY?
MELSOULTREE has graced GRAND stages from Carnegie Hall to Las Vegas. To date she has performed throughout the countries of France, Germany, Switzerland, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Canada and of course the United States. MelSoulTree has worked with a "Who's Who" list of legendary musicians of ALL STYLES such as: Nile Rodgers, Smokey Robinson, Mickey Stevenson, Phil Spector's Crystals, Darlene Love, Sheila Jordan, Ron Carter, Full Force, the Glory Gospel Singers and Hip Hop legend Grand Master Flash. She has also been a featured soloist for The Duke Ellington, Princeton and New York Pops Orchestras. MELSOULTREE tours year round as a soloist and with OTHER fabulous musicians. Constantly performing affords MelSoulTree priceless performance experience ON STAGE in action and OFF STAGE watching other great performers on the touring circuit. She believes that by constantly performing she will always learn new things and keep her own performance chops SHARP at the same time. Besides Soul Quest Records, she has also recorded for the Select, Wild Pitch, Audio Quest, Giant/Warner, Lo Key and 2 Positive record labels. WHERE DO YOU LIKE TO PERFORM AND WHO ARE YOUR INFLUENCES?
I love performing nationally and internationally, but there's no place like home...For me, HOME is in New York City! My support base started in New York City. One thing I love about New Yorkers is they'll always give it to you "RAW & STRAIGHT"...whether they like what you do or not, they'll let you know!" MY MUSICAL INFLUENCES ARE: Minnie Riperton, Phyllis Hyman, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, Marvin Gaye, Chaka Khan, Natalie Cole, Peabo Bryson, Rachelle Farrell, Ce Ce Winans, Ella Fitzgerald, Patti Labelle, Whitney Houston, Yolanda Adams and too many other great musicians to name. I am liable to sing songs covered by both men and women. I like to put my own "spin" on things. I enjoy and listen to all types of Music. I believe you can learn SOMETHING from new and seasoned musicians...good music is good music! My goal is to be known for bringing audiences GREAT music worldwide!
